MIDWEST MAFIA
It started out as Whitman Livestock and turned into a family of cow haulers that call themselves "the MidWest Mafia" - now it's a "Family Thing."
Whitman Livestock began in 1973 as Whitman Trucking, by the bull-hauling legend, Fats Whitman. Later, when his son, Spud Whitman, took over lead operations, they changed the name to Whitman Livestock. Their reputation grew because of their ability to get the job done right and their crew got bigger. Eventually, they started calling themselves the MidWest Mafia. Not because of anything sinister, but because these cattle-hauling legends are as close as any real family and they have each others' backs.
It's late-night phone calls when the road gets long and the sleep gets short, it's protecting our customers at all costs, and delivering a service that stands behind a handshake that still means something.
It started as a nickname, but turned into something bigger: a family.
Somewhere along the miles, Spud Whitman started naming each year as a tour. After all, there's lots of time behind the wheel to be creative.
LIGHTS AND PIPES.
ALL TRUCKED OUT.
The names stuck, and so did the stories that came with them.
